It’s Right Now That Matters

I think we are all good at planning. We plan for tomorrow, next week, for the next few months, even the next few years. What we sometimes fail to realize is that it is not the future that matters as much as the present.

We have been fed the false idea of needing to always plan. Yes, indeed there are certain things that we do need to plan if we are to be successful at certain things. If you want to lose weight, you need to plan your weight loss. You need to plan so that you can be prepared for any challenging moments which will arise. Vacations need to be planned, etc. However, the one thing that you can not plan is your happiness. Planning for happiness is planning for failure and disappointments. This is because happiness is right NOW. Happiness is not tomorrow, it is not when someone plans something with you, it is not going to a particular place. It is right now.

I know this sounds easier said than done at times. You may wonder how can you be in the present moment when perhaps you may not be happy with your present time. First thing I have to say is that if you are not happy with your present time then your focus isn’t in the right place. It is necessary to shift your focus. You shift your focus by thinking about all that you currently have that you can be grateful for. You probably have read and heard this over and over again but what this does is that it changes your focus so that you can start changing your feelings.

What is the easiest thing that you can do right now that would give you peace? It could be something as simple as watching something that makes you smile, going for a walk, connecting with nature, drawing, anything that brings you joy. By doing this, what you are trying to let go is the resistance that you are feeling for what you don’t like in your present life. Although you can’t control outside things, you can always control yourself and how you are feeling.

Decide to enjoy the now. Be present in this current moment because indeed this is what you have. How are you currently feeling? Sit with those feelings. What are some of the things that come to your mind? Be mindful of the thoughts you have. Your thoughts become your feelings and your actions. Also, if you feel any negative feelings, sit with them for a moment. Feel them. Don’t be afraid of them. Observe and try to understand them. There is nothing wrong with feeling your emotions.

The moment you find yourself thinking, worrying, etc. about the future, stop yourself. This is the fastest way to anxiety, depression, and not enjoying the moment. Enjoy what you are seeing now, go out and see something wonderful; don’t deprive yourself of joy. Remember that YOU are your joy, not a person, circumstance, place, or thing.

I hope this post gets you thinking that it’s the now that matters. Everything else is an illusion. Everything else is just a distraction from your present time which is indeed a present. Everything else is a fantasy. The real joy is in the now and when you can fully understand and embrace that, that’s when you will start living life.

It is my intention that this post helps you think of your now in a different manner. That this helps you connect to your true self, not the self that others think or say. That this post helps you see that worry, anger and even joy are created within you and by focusing on your present moment, you will be able to create the joy that you so desire.

Your Christmas Present From Life…

Christmas is just around the corner and for the past several weeks if not months before, I bet you have been planning what Christmas gifts to give to those you love. You probably have been thinking about what to get for yourself. Perhaps you even wondered what are others going to give to you. Have you ever thought, though, what is your Christmas present from Life? And more so, have you been good this whole year to have this present from Life?

There are several gifts from Life that we get that we tend to take for granted. I want to clarify that the reason why I write “Life” and not “God” is to respect those who may be atheist or who may have other beliefs so you may substitute “Life” to anything you believe in. Going back to today’s topic, some of Life’s gifts are health, love and prosperity.

Health is a gift, a very precious one, however, have you been behaving in order to enjoy this precious gift?! What do I mean with this question? I will explain. I can say from personal experience that health is something you truly enjoy when you understand how health works, when you have an understanding of how your body works, when you make the conscious effort to take care of yourself, when you invest in your health. Enjoying good health is your birth right but in order for you to enjoy this right, you have to take good care of your body. This is what I mean when I ask you if you have been good this whole year. The more you know, the better choices you make in regards to your health. Your health is the foundation of well-being.

Love, awww, the fuel of the soul, body and mind. I feel like without love we are literally dead. This is another thing we tend to take for granted. A healthy family, loving and supporting friends are gifts from Life. Have you been good in order to have this year round? What I mean with being good is have you been cultivating these relationships. Have you made it your goal to let those you love know how much they mean to you. Relationships are like plants, if they are not nurtured, they can die. They are nurtured with the care that you give to them. This is also part of having a balanced life.

Prosperity. This can be a tricky one because when one thinks of prosperity, the one thing that comes to mind is money. Indeed money is part of the prosperity piece. Having success in life is truly a gift but have you been good to deserve this? With this I mean if you have done all you could to allow prosperity in life. Have you made it your goal to educate yourself on topics that you need to learn. Have you made it your goal to love your money. Have you made it your goal to open yourself up to learning about creating different streams of income. Have you made it your goal to give to others. There are so many things that fall under the category of prosperity that I can’t fully cover in this post but that certainly are very important. This is just to give you some food for thought.

Certainly Life is constantly giving us gifts but it is up to us to keep earning those gifts with every action that we take. Life does its part but you too have to do yours if you are to see things going your way. This is all part of that well-being that we all strive for. With this I wish you all Happy Holidays.

How To Gain Focus In Life

I’ve had several conversations lately that I found quite interesting because there was a common theme in every conversation. The people I spoke with all wanted many things out of life and what they felt they lacked was not money nor time, as one would perhaps think. What they felt they lacked was focus.

Focus is a very important topic to discuss since the lack of it can make one feel distracted, unmotivated, feel a sense of not accomplishing much. One of the several ingredients needed to reach your goals in life and feeling a sense of accomplishment is having focus.

So how can one gain focus, especially if one feels like they are either losing it or don’t have any focus? I think the best way is to be present. When you are present, you are mindful of this moment you are living. Being present means living the very moment the way it is, with no worries of the past or the future. When you are present, the moment that matters is this very moment. How does this tie in with focus? Well, to be focused, you have to pay attention to what you are doing at the moment. Being focused requires you to put your energy on what you are doing at that time. Think about this for a moment, how can you be focused on what you are doing when at the same time you are thinking about what needs to be done next or how you forgot to do something? There is no way you can be focused when physically you are there but mentally and emotionally you are not. So with this said, the best way to be focused is to learn to be mindful, be present. This may not be easy at first but it is the way to get yourself to that point of achieving more in life.

Another thing that I would like to add is to consider your view on what it is that you are doing. Are the things that you choose to focus on meaningful to you? We also tend to lose focus when we are doing things that don’t have much meaning to us. If instead you view what you are doing now as the most important thing to do at the moment, this can help with your focus. Choose to do things that mean something to you. Where your emotions are, that’s where you are going to pour so much of your energy and attention.

Having focus doesn’t have to be a complicated thing. Start to be more mindful and do your best to do things that truly have meaning to you. Part of achieving your goals in life and getting more out of life does come from being focused.
