Are You Failing Your Courses?

Have you ever noticed that you get the same experience over and over again, just with different people or even different circumstances? Sometimes these experiences are not even pleasant experiences. In situations like these, it is easy to believe that one may be cursed or just have bad luck or perhaps one is a magnet to those things. Have you ever considered that most likely this is occurring because you are actually failing your courses?

Yes, many times we fail many courses- the courses of life. You will forever be a student in the school called Life where every person you meet, every experience, every disappointment, every failure are your teachers. Many of them are great teachers, it’s just a matter of perspective.

I learned the hard way that indeed people do reflect the way we feel about ourselves. How so? Well, if you meet someone who mistreats you and you allow it, that person is teaching you that you need to learn to love yourself. The key phrase in the previous sentence is “you allow it”. This is because you don’t have to be a bad person for bad people to come into your life. Whether you have a good heart or not, you may encounter some people who are not nice, this is not a reflection of you at all. What DOES become a reflection of you is when you ALLOW them to treat you in a way you don’t deserve.

A bad experience can be a huge blessing and a preparation for bigger things that are yet to come. If an experience didn’t go the way you expected or hoped, you learning to see what went wrong and what you could have done different can help you understand what to do better the next time. When you think about what went wrong and what you could have done different, it is important that you do this without any judgement towards yourself. This is important because otherwise analyzing what went wrong and what you could have done differently can backfire you. It backfires you because you end up being hard on yourself.

A disappoint can be a real eye opener. It’s awful to go on in life with blindfolds on, not seeing what is in front of you. A disappointment prepares you for a bigger task and a bigger responsibility that may lie ahead. This is why disappointments can be true blessings.

A person you meet can teach you something you needed to learn or they can tell you something you needed to hear. Even someone that gets you on your nerves is teaching you something whether that be patience, how to mold yourself, teaching you to become more tough, etc. So learn to view even those you can’t stand as blessings because they too serve a purpose in your life. That is part of developing that mental and emotional agility that you need in life.

A failure shows you what went wrong and what to do differently next time. Failures are nothing to be ashamed of since they are a necessary component to life. Without it, you can’t learn to be humble, you don’t learn different ways of thinking or doing things and you just can’t grow as a person.

Once you learn a lesson, you will notice that life will test you to see if you passed the test. How do these tests look like? Well, the same situation will most likely come back again and that is the time to show what you have learned. Once you pass the test, you will notice that you won’t be repeating the same people nor scenario because you truly have learned your lesson.

You will always be given lessons and well, if you don’t learn the lesson right and pass the test, you will just be repeating the same course, over and over again with different people, different circumstances but the result is the same. So I encourage you to think about the following: what is one lesson that you are being pushed to learn? Are you meeting the same kinds of people over and over again? If so, what are you meant to learn? In what ways do you still have to grow? I guarantee you that if you master the lesson and pass the test, you won’t find yourself repeating courses.

The Positive and Negative of Everything

I’ve been pondering and asking myself why for many great things there has to be a negative to it. I’m working out this morning and although I love to workout and I’m helping my health with that, my hair has to be a nice mess afterwards. It makes me feel as if I have to choose between my body or my hair. Same thing with other decisions that I have to make, there are positives and negatives to everything. It makes me wonder why this is and this is what today’s post will be about.

I think one of the best comparisons to describe how life functions is a battery- it has a positive and a negative side. The battery, in order to function the way it is supposed to, needs both sides. If both sides are positive or negative, it just can’t work right. For as much as we would like for life to just have the positive, it can’t function if there is no negative.

So what’s the purpose of having both in our life? They both help balance each other out. This goes with everything in life. You can’t understand what true happiness is unless you know what sadness is. You can’t fully comprehend what true abundance is until you experience lack. You don’t fully appreciate your body until you get sick. You don’t fully appreciate the role someone plays in your life until you miss them. Certain places have to have their own downside because otherwise if it were to suite everyone, there would be a problem whether that problem is a place being overpopulated or very stressful, etc. This is what having the good and the bad can do, it can balance things out.

Balance is what contributes to your well-being and this is key. You need both sides in order to balance out your life. It is through balance that things can work in harmony. Nature intended it to be that way.

Having the negative along with the positive can bring out the creative side in us. This is because the negative can make you look for solutions as to how to a handle a situation. For example, I have to be creative with my hair in order to make it look nice after I workout. Certain things force the creative side of you and that is great.

So, if nature intended it this way, how can one handle the positives and the negatives when making certain decisions? When it comes to making decisions, you have to see what weighs more for you. It’s a matter of knowing who you are and knowing what matters most to you.

When it comes to cases where the negatives of something highly impacts your well-being, if it’s a decision that you made to have that positive in your life but it comes at a high price, then you have to mold yourself to the negative. What I mean with this is to find a way to work around the negative. For instance, if it’s a job that affects your health due to odd hours of work, then create your life and make a schedule that can still fit your job. The point is that you want to work with what you have and make the most of it.

Life indeed is like a battery with its positive and negative sides and both are needed in order for things to work in harmony. Both sides are needed in order to have balance in life. I encourage you to start looking at everything from this perspective.

The Problem With Unresolved Issues

One of the things that can ruin one’s well-being without one realizing is any unresolved issues and this is what I will be writing in today’s post.

Why write about unresolved issues? Because unresolved issues can prevent you from living your life fully. Unresolved issues can make you push away all the goodness and you may not even understand why. Unresolved issues can make you chase all that is not good for you and you may not understand why. Unresolved issues can make you hold on to something that is hurting you and you may find it hard to let go. Unresolved issues can lead you to do things, accept people and circumstances that are unhealthy and can lead to destructive choices. No, I am not exaggerating, it CAN lead to destructive choices.

How can one know when they have unresolved issues? I think the best way is by looking at how your life is. Take a look at what you have been attracting, take a look at what you have been accepting in your life, take a close look at your relationships and take a closer look at how you feel and think about yourself. We accept what we think we deserve. We accept what we feel we deserve. When you know that you deserve better, you don’t accept anything less. Based on the way you view yourself and your life, that’s what you tend to accept.

Where do unresolved issues come from? How does one get to this point? There are many things that can lead to one having unresolved issues. It can come from your childhood, from your parents, the way you were treated in school, any rejection you may have had in the past, any failure and the most important especially as an adult, your perception. Perception is a big one because your perception of anything is everything. What is done to us is not what really matters, it is the way we perceive what happened what matters most. The way that you get to a point of having an unresolved issue is that when something occurs, you perhaps didn’t give it much thought and didn’t processed how something either made you feel and your thoughts of what happened, the lessons, etc. It is important to give things room- give yourself as well as what happened room so that you can digest it. The best way to resolve something is by processing it. It is a mistake to sweep things under the rug or substitute what hurt you for another without first letting it sit for a bit until you learn the lesson and then move on. This is how many without knowing and unintentionally hurt others.

Unresolved issues….it is a must to deal with the issues and move past it. Once again, it is a mistake to sweep things under the rug, substitute what hurt you for another without first letting it sit for a bit until you learn the lesson and then move on, a huge mistake to numb your emotions with alcohol, drugs, food or anything in an unhealthy manner. If you don’t want the issue to creep its ugly head, you might as well learn and grow from it.

It’s Still a Privilege!

This post that I am writing today is one that I write with pain and with so much mixed feelings and I hope this message can make you cherish more certain things if you still have them in your life.

There are things in life that we either take for granted, challenges that we may not like to face, things that we wish we weren’t going through, people who will get us on our nerves and on and on the lists goes. It doesn’t matter how hard the challenge may be, how difficult of a time you may be having, how much someone may get you on your nerves…it’s still a privilege.

That loved that you have by your side that may be getting you on your nerves now, it’s still a privilege that you have them in your life. Remember that someday they may not be there. This difficult time that you may be having, it’s still a privilege because there are lessons to be learned from that experience. That pain that you may be feeling at the moment it’s still a privilege because it makes you see how human you are.

Whenever you feel a heaviness, whenever you feel exhausted and tired of whatever situation that you are facing, please know that life is always changing so that moment that you have, no matter how difficult it may be, it is still a privilege that you are going through it. Life is extremely short and every moment is to be enjoyed. Enjoy that loved one even if they get you on your nerves! Always remind those who you love that you love them! No matter how difficult a moment may be, do your best to embrace that moment! Every moment, even the difficult ones, is to be cherished.

Today’s post I want to dedicate to my dad. It’s still a privilege to be able to fight for you, to be able to struggle with you, to be able to have those sleepless nights just to be by your side whenever you are at a new facility, whenever you feel lonely and need some company. It’s still a privilege although it’s a hard task but because you are a fighter, I am a fighter and even though there are times where it feels like it’s too much, I would still continue fighting along side you. For all those moments that we had to fight along side you that we know we won’t get back, we will still treasure those moments and we thank you so much for all that you are giving to us. We love you and will love you always!

To all of you, please remember that no matter what….it’s still a privilege.

You Will Always Be Tested…

I think about how my life has been like for over a year now and there is nothing else I can say or describe how life has been other than full of tests. Tests of courage, tests of faith, tests of patience, tests of strength, tests of endurance, Life will even provide you with tests of others which will help you see who is who in your life. All these tests are part of building you into the person that you are meant to be- a person with great well-being.

Although it would be so great to say that life is always great, that life is nothing but wonderful and don’t get me wrong, life is great when you look at the big picture. However, when challenges come your way, the best way to deal with these challenges is by looking at them as tests. So with this said, how can you pass these tests? You pass these tests by asking yourself several questions which are the following: “What am I meant to learn from all this?”, “How can I be a better person because of this?”, “In what ways am I meant to mature because of this?”, “How is this preparing me for the person that I am meant to become?”.

When I look back at certain “tests” I had that I felt I had failed, what I had failed to realize then is that those “tests” that I thought I failed I didn’t fail at all. Those were lessons that I was meant to learn for the bigger gift that was in store for me. There are different levels of tests that we all face. Some are bigger and more difficult than others but nonetheless, even the small tests are very important because there is so much value you can get from them.

With this post, I would like to encourage you that if you are going through any difficulty in life, anything that you are struggling with, start looking for those lessons that you are meant to learn and become better because of it. It doesn’t matter how big or small that difficulty may be, there are jewels hidden in those painful experiences. All we can do as humans is just grow from each situation because difficulties are a part of life but it doesn’t have to ruin our life. Pass these tests and you will see that great things can be in store for you because of the lessons you learned. Part of well-being is also passing these tests, believe it or not, because unless you learn, you will never grow as a person.

Know that with everything and anything, you will always be tested…
