How to Take Action When Feeling Unmotivated

Who doesn’t have dreams and aspirations in life? I think most of us do. If this is so, then why is it that some people seem to reach their goals in life while others don’t? Is it that there are those who are just lucky? Is it that those who achieve their goals have more talent than others? Is it that it was in their destiny to reach those goals while it was not in the destiny of those who didn’t achieve their goals? I think one of the reasons, because there can be many reasons as to why some achieve their goals while others don’t, lies on feeling unmotivated. If this is the case, then how can one take action when feeling unmotivated?

There are different ways you can approach this. The first one would be to ask yourself what motivates you to want to do whatever it is that you would like to do. The reason for you wanting to take action would need to be strong in order for you to stick with it. When there is emotion attached to whatever it is that you want to do, you are more compelled to stick with whatever it is that you want to do. By attaching emotion to it, you are making your reason strong enough so that you can stick with your decision even when the going gets tough.

Once you figure out what motivates you to take action towards something and you make sure you attached emotion to it, since we are emotional beings and whether we realize it or not, a lot of the decisions that we make are based on how we feel about things, keep reminding yourself what is motivating you to do something. There will be times when the going will get tough and so you will need reminders as to why you decided to do what it is that you are doing in the first place.

Another important factor to remember is that if you rely on feeling motivated in order to take action then you may never start or reach your goals. It is important to remember that motivation is fleeing, therefore, you can’t rely on this. If you want to reach any goal, you need determination and discipline. Motivation is only good at first to get you started but not necessary to keep you going. You’re not always going to feel motivated to do what you need to do. Just like when going to school, you want to have the degree and there are times you don’t feel like writing papers but you know you have to write that paper in order to pass the class and you have to pass the class in order to graduate. Same thing applies to everything else in life.

What does this have to do with your well-being and your life in general? I think this has a lot to do with your well-being and life in general because there are lots of things that many people want but just don’t seem to get motivated to do what they need to do such as losing weight, or eating better to manage an illness they may have or even get the motivation to get the training for a new job. These are just some examples of how feeling unmotivated can interfere with your overall well-being so it is important to know how to overcome it. Your well-being depends on many things and when you let the lack of feeling motivated stand in your way, depending on the circumstances, this can be detrimental to you and your life in general. Therefore, it is important to know that motivation indeed can be fleeing so it is not always reliable. It is your discipline and determination that will count the most.

One Main Ingredient To Having The Things You Want In Life

I have been analyzing my life and observing other people’s lives and questioning why is it that other people have certain things while others who deeply desire the same thing don’t have those things they want. Is it that certain people are more deserving of it than others? Could it be that certain people are destined for certain things while others are not? I refuse to believe that something that you deeply desire is not meant for you because I believe if it was placed in your heart it’s because God or the Universe or whatever your higher being is placed it there for you and it’s already yours.

I have been reading lately on how to find your soulmate because it’s a topic that interests me at the moment and one of the things that many authors say is that you have to set the intention. Set the intention? Now this caught my eye and I found myself pondering on this statement and I came to the conclusion that this not only applies to finding your soulmate, this also applies to everything else as well.

An example of setting the intention to find your soulmate is by declaring that you will meet your soulmate and making room in your life for love. You act as if you already have that soulmate in your life. For example, you buy a bed that two people can sleep on. I’ve noticed that when men are ready to settle down and marry, they are already buying a home or at least saving up to buy a home in order to have something to offer their future wife. In their mind they already have that wife they are searching for.

If losing weight is your goal, for example, you are going to first set the intention and imagine the body you want. You start to live and eat the way someone with that body would. You will have the discipline that it takes to reach your goal. It’s not enough wanting that body, you have to do what it takes. You set the intention.

If starting a business is your goal, the wanting to start a business is easy but it is not enough. Who doesn’t want to have their own business?! You have to first set the intention! You do that by knowing that it takes work and doing the work that it takes. You already have your business in mind and you take the steps necessary in order to make what you have in your mind come true.

Awww, setting the intention. I couldn’t help but realize how true this is for love but also for everything else in life. Unless you set that intention and get right to it, you won’t accomplish anything.

What does setting the intention have to do with well-being? It has all to do with well-being because a very important aspect to your well-being is how you feel about your life and feeling a sense of achievement that you have accomplished things in life.  Who doesn’t want to enjoy good health? Who doesn’t want to grow financially? Who doesn’t want to be all that they are meant to be?! However, to be able to feel satisfied in all areas of your life, you have to set the intention for what you want in life. You have to set the intention for love, you have to set the intention that you will eat right and exercise, you have to set the intention to get your finances straight, etc.

For your well-being, anything that you set out to do, first start by setting the intention, be clear about what you want and you will be surprised at the changes you might start seeing in your life.

You Are More Than You Think You Are

Many times we may think that what we feel or think is just crazy or we feel the need to hear something that we already know but we need to hear it from someone else in order to believe it. Believing that you are more than you think you are will give you the confidence that who you want to be is possible, that what you want to achieve is reachable. This all ties in to self-esteem and self-esteem is part of well-being.

How can you start believing that you are more than you think you are when you never thought more of yourself? You do this by taking baby steps. Start by doing your best to achieve something that may be small. Don’t rest until you achieve this. After achieving that small goal, you will gain the confidence that you can achieve other goals as well and you will be more ambitious to achieve another goal but this time a big one. Every goal that you achieve is a step closer to feeling and believing that you are more than you think you are.

What has helped me a lot has been giving myself some quiet time to listen to myself in order for me to know what it is that I want and feel. If I feel an inclination to do something, even if I don’t know why I want to do it, I do it anyways. This act of daring to listen to myself despite any fears I may have has helped me work my courage muscle and self-confidence muscle. The one thing to remember about this is that feeling that you are more than you think you are will take time. There will be good days and bad days. Take things as it is and don’t resist the bad feelings you may feel because this is also part of working that mental/emotional “I am more than I think I am” muscle. You learn from both the good and the bad.

Turn off other people’s voices. I truly believe that no one really truly knows what you are capable of but you, if only you trust yourself. There are times when unfortunately other people may place their insecurities on you, discouraging you from doing or being something or they just may not understand what you are trying to do. I honestly believe that although other people may mean well, only you can truly know what you want. In order for you to see and manifest that you truly are more than you think you are, listening to yourself is crucial, but not that critical, judgmental voice of yours, no. You have to listen to what your soul wants. I believe listening to your soul will be key to you unlocking your potential.

You are more than you think you are and the faster you start to believe this, the faster you will be all that you are designed to be. It is your birthright to reach your potential and be the person you are designed to be- healthy, strong, happy, energetic, positive, beaming with light. You are more than you think you are and it’s a matter of taking the first step of believing this. It will take time but this is worth working on. You truly are more than you think you are!

Beware of Your Needs

Needs are needs and they are to be acknowledged and respected. We all have a need to be loved, to be needed, to feel connected and a part of something, etc and these are all natural needs. Nothing wrong with them, except when we allow our needs to take over and rule our way of thinking, feeling and behaving in ways that compromise our well-being.

This is why I wrote for the title of this post “beware of your needs” because no matter what need it is, that need, if it’s not in check, can take over you and turn you into a person that you are not otherwise. Balance in everything is important and it also important when it comes to your needs.

I think one of the best ways to balance out your needs is by putting as a priority your sense of peace and well-being. When you make your sense of peace and well-being a priority, no matter how much you may want something, you will judge whether it is worth having what you need based on how it makes you feel and whether or not it adds to your life. A perfect example I can think of is when your need is to be in a romantic relationship. That is a normal need to have but when your priority is your sense of peace and well-being, when someone that may seem like a good candidate comes along, you will be a better judge of whether or not this person is worth having in your life because you are not as hungry for that need since something else has a bigger priority. The problem with needs is not the need itself but the intensity of that need. Feeling hungry is normal but when you are starving, even a salty meal tastes yummy although it is not good for you. This is why I suggest that when having a need, offset it by making something else that truly is important like your peace and well-being a priority so you are not as hungry and settle for something unhealthy for you. Just like you would have a snack in between breakfast and lunch so that by the time it is lunchtime you are not starving, there are other ways that you can better handle that need you have and something else needs to be a priority for you to control the intensity of that need. “How can the whole snacking in between meals be compared to needing a romantic relationship?” you may ask and the answer to this is that I think the secret to not being so hungry for a need is to have other things going on that somewhat satisfies that need that you have. For example, cultivating other healthy relationships such as friendships and family can help when it comes to a longing you may have.

There is nothing worse for your sense of well-being than losing your center and balance in life. When you do lose these things, you become someone you are not, you make choices that are not right for you, you settle for situations that are not healthy for you so in essence, you are compromising your well-being. Nothing is worth you compromising your well-being, not even a need.

Your Life Is For You to Live It However You Want

Nobody is the boss of your life. You don’t have to hold yourself accountable to anyone but yourself. The reality is that nobody is living your life for you. For this reason, you need to live your life the way you feel fit. Of course, without hurting anyone nor yourself. So then, why pay so much attention to what others may think of you? I believe worrying too much about what others may think of us can paralyze us from being who we truly are. This causes complexes and the need of other people’s approval of ourselves and this is not healthy for our well-being.

Part of well-being is having a healthy self-esteem where even though you will always be asking for other people’s opinion which is normal, you first approve of yourself despite others not approving of you. It is being secure of oneself, not in an arrogant way, but having that sense of confidence in yourself that you are the way you are and you are fine just the way you are. That confidence that you were designed with purpose and you are proud of who you are.

Your life is for you to live it however you want because nobody has a right to tell you how to live it. Inside of you, you have a GPS system that guides you and tells you which direction to head with your life. It is a matter of listening to your interior.

Your life is for you to live it however you want and when you live it the way you want without hurting others nor yourself, this will fill you up with happiness and well-being. Your well-being also depends on your happiness and a healthy self-esteem.

It’s Too Much Work To Be Negative

Sometimes we mistakenly believe that smiling and being positive is too much work, especially under a lot of stress or when sleep deprived. The truth is that being negative is too much work rather than being positive. Negativity only attracts more negativity. Think about it. If you go to a store and the clerk is in a bad mood, speaks to you with an attitude, what will your reaction be? You will feel tempted to be nasty right back, right? You certainly won’t want to go back to the store, you will have ill regards towards that person, etc.

I don’t know about you but when I feel negative or when I’m mad, I can feel how my body changes. I get hot, I feel irritable, I have less patience. It’s my personal opinion but feeling this way is just not worth it. Being constantly in a negative state is just harmful for your well-being in general. It raises your blood pressure, it clouds your thinking and judgment. You just attract the wrong people and wrong situation, your body changes and not for good, etc. One thing that I would like to clarify is that it is normal to be frustrated or mad from time to time when the situation warrants it. In this blog, I’m referring to the constant negativity from the moment you wake up all the way to when you sleep every single day. This kind of negativity is not healthy.

I would like to include that negativity is not only having a negative outlook in life or being in a bad mood. Negativity also includes being envious, jealous, wanting what others have, constantly being worried, etc. The reason why I include these is because nothing good can happen to you when you are envious or jealous towards others. Worrying all the time about things you can’t control or worrying about things that you can change but don’t is just a waste of time because worrying paralyzes us. When you are envious or jealous, you are not hurting the other person by feeling this way, you are hurting yourself. Rather than using your energy on those emotions, you can use this energy to improve and focus on yourself. There is no need to want what others have because we are all special in our own way. We all have our own talents and we are all unique in our own ways. Therefore, there is no need to want what others have.

Negativity does no good to you and it’s not even worth your time and energy. It’s too much work! Instead of remaining in negativity, channel that energy instead into something productive and positive. This will ensure your growth and happiness and will lead you to live to the max.

Work With What You Have

There are times when we might feel like we need more in order to have more or that we need more in order to succeed or that we need more in order to have enough. There were many times when I felt this way and still did until recently and I learned that in life we just have to work with what we have.

When you work with what you have, you will realize that you have enough, if not, plenty. You will realize that you are enough just the way you are. When you work with what you have, you start to take advantage of all “the fruits that are reachable” as I like to say to refer to whatever resources you have that are available to you. You use your gifts and skills and focus on that rather than on your shortcomings. You focus on what works for you and magnetize that as opposed to focusing on what doesn’t work.

When you work with what you have, you will find yourself complaining less because you are able to see the abundance that you possess. You will notice more of the talents that you possess that you probably didn’t even know that you have. You will learn to be more observant of yourself.

If you want to start living to the fullest, one way is to start working with what you have. It’s what you have at the moment that counts so use it to your advantage and watch things multiply. When you learn to utilize what you have because you can see the value in what you have, this is how things can then start to multiply.

What does this have to do with wellbeing? It has all to do with wellbeing because part of wellbeing is being grateful for what you have and you utilize and appreciate what you have. Part of wellbeing is how you feel about yourself and about all that you already have. If you don’t feel like you have much to offer, if you feel like you are not enough, you will experience a void that robs your happiness. People who work with what they have do so because they see the value in what they have. When you see the value in things, you can then treat it like the precious jewel that it is. Every one of us have value and it’s important to see it and work with it. So what are you waiting for?! Starting seeing that value and work with what you have!

Remain In Your Knowing

Today’s blog post is more of a reminder than anything else and this is because many times we forget things that are so crucial to our overall well-being. There is a place to forget certain things because they are not helpful to our overall well-being, but there are other things that we can not afford to forget. For this reason, it’s important to remain in your knowing.

Remain in the knowing that you are loved. This is something that sometimes we tend to forget. We forget because we sometimes are not in the mood. We forget because at the moment things may not go the way we want them to go. We forget because we may not see a manifestation from others of their love. It’s important to remain in the knowing that you are loved regardless of whether or not others are showing you their love. Just because they are not showing you their love, doesn’t mean that they don’t love you. At the end of the day, they, too, are only humans and they too go through their ups and downs. Just because things may not go the way you want them to go doesn’t mean that you are not loved. Perhaps things not going the way you want them to go is an act of love in itself.

Remain in the knowing that you are supported. Sometimes we make the mistake of thinking we are not being supported because we are not seeing that support from others. Remember that there is a higher force supporting you regardless of whether or not others are supporting you.

Remain in the knowing that you are needed. Yes, you are this important! You matter so much! It doesn’t matter what your occupation is, your title or your level of education, you have an important place in life. It’s important to remember this regardless of how others see you or think of you. You are irreplaceable and for this other reason you matter so much.

Remaining in this kind of knowing gives you power. It gives you a boost that I have no words to describe the power it can have in your life. This knowing is uplifting, it makes you stronger, it makes you invincible. It is this feeling and strength that help you get by despite the adversities of life, despite if others may be “against” you, despite the challenges you may encounter.

In order to remain in this knowing, you have to make a daily choice to be in this knowing, to repeat to yourself how you are love and are loved. Repeat to yourself that you are valuable and needed. Repeat to yourself that you are always supported. This repetition will help strengthen those muscles that will make you invincible in life.

How to Bring Some Sunshine When Everything Around You Seems Cloudy

Everyday the weather changes. When it comes to the weather, we also go through different seasons. These changes in weather and seasons can make us feel different, changing our mood at times.

Just like the weather, we go through changes in our life. We go through changes inside of us. And the challenge is not when it is all sunshine and great but when it gets cloudy around us. It is when things start to get cloudy around us that our mood can change, leading us to perhaps feeling unmotivated, sad and losing our focus. For this reason, in today’s post, I would like to share how to bring some sunshine when everything around you seems cloudy.

The first thing to bring some sunshine into your life is to start taking responsibility for how you feel. This may not seem like it’s a ray of sunshine but it is because it is bringing the power back to you. So if you are feeling sad, this is because you want to feel sad. Now you may say to yourself “well Aura, I don’t want to feel sad.” Well, if you are to take responsibility for how you are feeling, this means that you make a choice as to how you are going to feel. So you can choose to change how you feel. One thing I need to clarify, if you have a real reason for feeling sad such as having a sick loved one, etc., then you need to allow yourself to feel your emotions. Just know that staying in this feeling for way too long won’t help your health and it is a must to put a time limit on how you feel so you don’t spiral down.

The second thing you can do to bring some sunshine into your life is to change your focus. I said it before and I will say it again, what you focus on magnifies. If you are noticing a pattern in your life, that’s because that is what you are focusing on. You get what you decide to see all the time. You get what you focus on the most. You change your focus by making a decision to pay attention to something else. Keep changing your focus to something that you like until you are used to just focusing on what you want.

The third thing you can do to bring some sunshine into your life is to change the conversation that you have in your head. Yes, we all have chatters in our mind. If the chatter you have in your mind is toxic, what do you think your outer environment will be? It will be toxic as well. You change what’s toxic by replacing it with something positive. Because I know how challenging changing one’s self-talk can be, I have a beautiful surprise in store for you that will be coming up soon. Be on the look out for that.

The fourth thing you can do to bring some sunshine into your life is to be aware of the people you allow in your personal space. I wrote about the importance of choosing your friends right as well as your companion right in the book Creating a Lifetime of Wellness. I can’t stress enough how important your environment is to your overall well-being. You become like the people that you surround yourself by. The people around you can influence the way you feel about yourself and your life. Choose to be around people who are loving. Choose to be around people who love themselves. Choose to be around people who lift you up.

Bringing some sunshine when everything around you seems cloudy is ultimately up to you. Take that power back and start bringing into your life some sunshine.

Where Are You Hanging Out?

You may read this topic and think that I am referring to where exactly are you hanging out physically as in your environment and although this may be important for purposes of influence, this is not what I am referring to.

There is a world that we tend to take for granted. A world that many of us may not be as aware as we should be. A world and an environment that truly creates the most impact in our life. A world that can literally allow us to have everything we want or it can literally sabotage us from having everything that we want. That world that I am referring to is the one that you hang out in and that is your inner world.

That’s right! I dare to go there because where we decide to hang out in regards to our inner world will be reflected in our outer world. Where we decide to hang out will determine how we will view things. Where we decide to hang out will determine whether we will respond to things or we will react to things. There is a difference between responding and reacting and I can discuss that on another blog post. Where we decide to hang out plays a big role in our overall well-being.

So let’s discuss this for a minute. Where are you hanging out? Know that where you decide to be mentally is totally up to you. What I mean with this is you decide what beliefs you will have. You decide what your thoughts will be. You decide the self talk you will have in your mind. You decide!

Know that where you decide to be emotionally is totally up to you. What I mean with this is you decide how you will feel. You decide how you will feel when others do things. You decide how you will feel when things don’t work out the way you want them to work out. You decide how you will feel during the day. You decide!

Know that where you decide to be physically is totally up to you. What I mean with this is you decide how energetic your body will be based on the way you treat it. You decide how you will respond to what your body signals to you. You decide what relationship you will have with your body. You decide!

If you find yourself constantly feeling sad, depressed, anxious, frustrated, etc., you have to question where have you been hanging out mentally and emotionally. You are what you are thinking and feeling. You are what you decide to be and feel. You need to remember this always. If you constantly find yourself feeling tired, lack of energy, and with no desire to do anything, you have to question where are you hanging out physically. Are you taking care of your body the way you are supposed to? What is your relationship with your body?

Where you hang out plays a big role in your overall well-being. You can’t take for granted where your thoughts are, your emotions are, how your relationship with your body is. You can’t afford to take any of this for granted.
