You Need Cojones!

What I’m about to write will perhaps sound so silly but to me it isn’t because of the meaning that this has for me. I went last month to the Department of Driver Services in Atlanta to get my Georgia State ID without realizing that I had to give up both my NY State ID and my permit. I couldn’t even keep my NY State ID as a memorabilia. As I gave up my ID and permit, I had a mixture of emotions that ranged from shock to sadness to excitement all at once. As I was leaving the DDS with my paper state ID, I realized that to live that life that you want, no matter what it is, you need cojones.

Cojones in Spanish means “balls” so in essence, you need balls or courage to live that life that you want. There are many things that will feel intimidating and most likely that’s because what you’re doing is something new to you. Anything that is new will be intimidating. What you can not allow is your fear of something new stop you from doing what you want to do.

You need cojones to do what you want to do even when others don’t understand why you want to do what you want to do and even if they don’t agree with you. In the end, you are the one living your life, no one is living it for you so you need to do what makes sense to you, not others. The only person that you truly owe any explanation to is to yourself.

You need cojones to dare, to dare to be you, to dare to dream, to dare to leap. There are times that it may not be easy to be your true self but yet it is a must. Who else are you supposed to be if not yourself?! Besides, if you’re not your true self, you don’t attract those that are truly meant to be in your life. There are times that dreaming for some can be scary, especially when they are big dreams but yet we must still dare. You will never know what you are capable of having and being unless you dream and try.

Having cojones is so necessary for your well-being because the frustration of many is the very fact that they may not be living the life that they really want. Living authentically is so crucial to your mental and emotional sanity whether you realize it or not. We all reach a point in our life where we will wonder if we have reached our full potential and if we are all that we can be. So start building up those cojones!

Get Right Back To It!

Today’s post has a lot of meaning to me and I hope it does for you too, which I’m sure for many it will, and this is because have you ever had a moment where you give up on something, you stop doing something that you once enjoyed for whatever reason, or you lost track of something because there is just too much going on in life?! I bet many of you have and so have I but no matter what is going on or how busy you get with life’s stuff, with regards to all the things you love and want, just get right back to it!

I came to the conclusion in the past week up until now that there will never be a perfect time to do anything. That is because there is never a perfect time. The perfect time to do the things that you want and love is now. When you wait for the perfect time, I’m not referring to the right time, but the perfect time, what happens is that there will be another excuse for not being able to do the things that you want to do. So that project that you put aside, get right back to it! That plan that you had to build something for yourself, get right back to it! That dream vacation you wanted, get right back to it!

There are certain projects that sometimes are put aside and because one may have spent so much time putting it off or time away from that project, it is tempting to just give up altogether. So what if that project you just did it half way?! That’s no reason to let go of that project for good, just get right back to it! You were trying to lose weight and you lost some but then you stopped, get right back to it! You were half way to getting your college degree but then you stopped, get right back to it!

What in the world does this phrase has anything to do with your overall well-being?! It has so much to do with your well-being! Part of your well-being is your happiness and part of what contributes to that happiness is achieving what you set your mind and heart to achieve. It is so tempting to stop when you are half way doing something, it is so tempting to give up because you haven’t achieved your goal yet or when you stopped doing something and this is one phrase that I think we all need to incorporate to remind ourselves to never give up no matter what the circumstances may be. Life will always happen and there will always be a time where we may stop doing what we are doing temporarily but then it is a must to get right back to it. No matter what it is that you were doing, if you want it and love it, get right back to it!

Are You Putting Limitations On Yourself?

We all have so many goals, dreams, aspirations in life and this is good because it is our dreams, goals and aspirations that give us something to look forward to and it keeps us moving forward. Some dreams may seem too grand to the point that it may seem impossible. Why is this? Why is it that for some certain, dreams seem attainable while for others it may not? If you find yourself in this situation, one good question to ask is whether you are putting any limitations on yourself.

Many times you may not realize that the reason why you don’t achieve your goals is because subconsciously, you may have put a limitation on yourself. Perhaps you may feel and question yourself “Who am I to achieve this?”. If subconsciously you are asking yourself this, you are placing yourself in a position where you are taking away your own power. Perhaps you may subconsciously feel inadequate to do the things you want to do. Again, this limits you both mentally and emotionally. As we think, we are and so if you are thinking negative things about yourself, you are limiting your own capabilities. Another way that you can be limiting yourself from your own dreams is by sabotaging your efforts as soon as you get close to your goal. These are things to pay close attention to because they can reveal to you what your real thoughts are about yourself. The reason why I write “your real thoughts” is because you may have one conscious thought about who you are but deep down inside you may have another thought and it is that thought that gets you into trouble.

What does this topic have to do with your well-being and life? Part of well-being is being truly happy and having that balance that I always mention. There are times when the reason why we are not happy and we are not doing the things that we truly love is because of some limitation that we have placed on ourselves. When this is the case, it is crucial to identify what that limitation is or else we will continue being stuck in the same situation that we don’t like.

There are many ways in which we place limitations on ourselves and each limitation is different from person to person. It is important to have a good analysis of oneself in order to understand why is it that we are not achieving the goals we have in mind. It may very well be that you are doing everything right but the reason why you are not achieving your goals is because of some limitation that you have placed on yourself and have not realized it yet.
